Atmer 129 alternative substitute

    Atmer 129 is an anti-static agent suitable for polyolefins. It can provide other excellent functions (such as lubrication and demolding effects) and it has extensive food contact certifications. When ATMER 129 is mixed with ATMER 163 in a 2:1 ratio, it achieves very good performance because of their excellent synergistic effect.

      Appearance:

      White or slightly yellowish small particles.

      Application:

      Atmer 129 is an internal anti-static agent, suitable for injection products that require food contact certification and other excellent functions. When mixed with Atmer 163, its anti-static effect is even better.

      In the extrusion of flat profiles, the combination of Atmer 129 and Atmer 163 yields better results.

      In polyolefin films, Atmer 129 is mainly used in combination with Atmer 163.

      Atmer 129 plays a processing auxiliary role in EPE to facilitate gas exchange (for example, exchanging carbon dioxide with air – as a foaming agent).

      AMTER 129 is recommended for use in PP audio cassette boxes. Besides its anti-static property, it also provides a smooth and lubricating effect.

      Application Guidelines

      Polyolefin films (less than 50 microns): 0.10% to 0.25%

      Polyolefin films (greater than 50 microns): 0.20% to 0.30%

      Polyolefin injection molding products: 0.20% to 0.60%

      EPE: 1.20% to 1.50%

      Mechanism of Action

      Atmer 129 achieves the internal anti-static effect in two ways: by establishing conductive channels to carry the electric charge to the grounding wire; and by serving as a lubricant and demolding agent during the extrusion process. This internal anti-static agent is dispersed into the polymer during the extrusion process. After extrusion, the anti-static agent migrates to the surface of the polymer because of its incompatibility with the polymer. It forms a uniform layer on the polymer surface, which is a hydrophilic substance that covers the polymer surface and absorbs moisture from the air to form conductive channels, thereby enhancing the conductivity of the polymer surface. (This also explains why high concentrations of anti-static agents can have an impact on printing and sealing, and why anti-static agents absorb moisture.)

      Performance advantages:

      Using Atmer 129 can reduce the contamination of dust on the appearance and performance of the final product, and also minimize problems during transportation, storage and packaging.

      In injection molded products, Atmer 129 can reduce cycle time and improve the appearance quality of the molded products by providing demolding functionality.

      In the production of EPE, Atmer 129 reduces friction during extrusion production by enhancing the uniform distribution of consistent cell sizes and improving gas exchange (facilitating the overflow of foaming gas and the filling of air). By accelerating gas exchange, Atmer 129 can reduce storage time and costs.

      In the PP audio cassette box, Atmer 129 can provide a smooth function to reduce the force required for opening and closing the box.
